A note on lookalike sites: a search for "Jackson County Property Appraiser" turns up privately-run sites that resemble the county's own — some carry ads and are not affiliated with any government office. The link above goes to the appraiser's actual site.

Between them, these four answer most of what a land purchase here turns up: what a parcel is zoned for, who owns it and how it is taxed, what is recorded against it, and what the ground is good for. The narrower questions — flood zones, septic permits, timber — have their own agencies, and each is linked from the page of the Land Guide that deals with it.

Not Sure Which Office You Need?

Tell Doug what you are trying to find out about a parcel. He will point you to the office that has the answer — and tell you what to ask for when you call.
