Homes and neighborhoods
Parker’s housing is older and more mixed than its neighbors’: the typical home was built in the early 1980s, about half of the homes are single-family houses, and many are duplexes, small apartment buildings or mobile homes. Nearly half of households rent. Waterfront homes cluster on Lake Martin, Parker Bayou and the bay. Named neighborhoods with sales include Donalson Point, Springlake, Lakewood, Lake Drive Heights and Hickory Park, but about 4 in 10 sales have no subdivision name.
Hurricane Michael’s eyewall passed over Parker in 2018; the mayor at the time said “a hundred percent of our structures were damaged.” Ask for the permit history and wind-mitigation report on any home.
